Polaris pulled the powerplant over from the company's largest Sportsman and placed it in the Scrambler XP 850. This engine has a longitudinally mounted design, has four valves per cylinder and is operated by an overhead camshaft. This 850cc twin is a rocket, and the 77 horsepower at the rear wheels proves it. Matched with electronic fuel injection, the new Scrambler XP has quick acceleration off the line..
Power is put to the wheels by a CVT automatic transmission. This is the same style tranny Polaris has used for many years. It is very reliable, and with proper maintenance should last the life of the machine.
Suspension on the Scrambler XP850, A double A-arm setup controls the front with 9 inches of wheel travel, and the rear is equipped with the same setup as the front but offers a larger 10.25 inches of wheel travel. The Scrambler also has a huge 11 inches of ground clearance.
